2024 Report to our Members
What we do
The European Association of Geochemistry was established to promote geochemistry internationally, specifically provide a forum for the presentation of geochemistry, exchange of ideas, publications, and recognition of scientific excellence.
We operate with over 100 volunteers serving on the EAG Council, EAG Committees, Editorial Boards, Goldschmidt Committees, Theme Chairs, Conveners and Workshop Panelists.

Goldschmidt Conferences
The EAG leads the organization of Goldschmidt Conferences in Europe.
The conference is co-owned by the EAG and the Geochemical Society.
Publications
- The EAG publishes two open access journals, Geochemical Perspectives Letters, open access and NO page charges, and Geochemical Perspectives, featuring contributions from invited scientists.
- The EAG is a co-publisher of Elements Magazine. Our members have online access to 25 years of past issues.
Early Career Support
The EAG directly funds Early Career scientists through several early career programs, and supports attendance at Goldschmidt conferences of delegates based in low and lower-middle income countries.
Recognition of scientific excellence
Each year, the EAG presents several awards recognizing scientists at various stages of their career.
Outreach, Networking and Communication
The EAG funds Outreach Programs in Eastern Europe and Africa, provides a forum for members to connect, publishes blog posts from members and volunteers, and enables free posting of job opportunities in geochemistry around the world.

Finances
Income and Expenses for 2024 and 2023

Notes
- All figures are in Euros.
- The EAG receives revenue from the Goldschmidt conference when it oversees its organization in odd-numbered years (the Geochemical Society receives revenue from the conference in even-numbered years).
- As the Goldschmidt surplus represents the main source of income for EAG, a loss is recorded every other year. Therefore, income and expenses are presented over two years.
- In the income table, the line “Others” includes income from Geochemical Perspectives e-shop and investment earnings.
- The society is run by volunteers and employs two permanent staff members (“Personnel expenses”), assisted by several service providers.
- All EAG financial records have been signed off by the accounting firm In Extenso.
