Memorandum of Understanding between the European Association of Geochemistry (EAG) and the Società Geologica Italiana (SGI)

The agreement between the SGI and EAG offers benefits to the members of both organizations.

EAG member benefits

  • EAG members may purchase the following SGI publications (available in print and online) under the same terms and conditions as SGI members:
    – Italian Journal of Geosciences
The Italian Journal of Geosciences (formerly Bollettino della Società Geologica Italiana e del Servizio Geologico d’Italia) is the official journal of the Italian Geological Society (Società Geologica Italiana) and of the Italian Geological Survey. It is published every four months in February, June and October. It is included in the Journal of Citation Report issued by the Institute of Scientific Information (Thomson ISI database) since 2004. It is indexed by Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCIE), Web of Science, Current Contents/Physical, Chemical & Earth Sciences (CC/PC&ES). The Italian Journal of Geosciences provides an international outlet for the publication of high-quality original research contributions in the broad field of the geosciences. It publishes research papers, special short papers, review papers, discussion-and-replies for their rapid distribution to the international geosciences community. Impact Factor: 0.87. Five Year Impact Factor: 0.982. Member rate: €30/issue (non-member:€40/issue).

    – Rendiconti Online della Società Geologica Italiana

The Rendiconti Online della Società Geologica Italiana, hosts three types of publications: abstracts, short notes, and regular articles. Abstracts are usually related to conferences, workshops and similar events, and the length of each abstract is limited to 3000 characters. Starting from 2014, abstracts submitted to meetings and conferences will be hosted in supplements to the ordinary issues. Short notes (3-4 pages in length) and regular research article (no limit on their length) are included in regular issues. Articles, short notes and abstracts are written both in English and Italian, but most of the submitted manuscripts are usually in English. Member rate: €20/issue (non-member:€30/issue).

    – Guide Geologiche Regionali

The “Guide Geologiche Regionali” (Regional Geological Guides) describe in a clear and non-specialist language the geological features of Italian territory. All guides contain an introductory visit and routes to be made by feet or by car. In the itinerary the time required to accomplish the different routes and stops are specified. Regional Geological Guides do not appeal only to geologists (or aspiring geologist) and naturalists, but also to hikers and mountain lovers, who hardly find news about the geology of the Italian territory. All the volumes are in Italian and for the most part available at the headquarters of the Italian Geological Society (c/o Department of Earth Sciences, Sapienza University of Rome, Piazzale Aldo Moro , 5-00185 Rome). Member rate: €10 to €15/issue.

    – Geological Field Trips

The Geological Field Trips is an open access journal that only publishes guides to geological field trips, organised in conjunction with Earth Sciences conferences and congresses. The journal is published jointly by the Geological Survey of Italy – ISPRA – and the Italian Geological Society. The open-access mode allows to reach a wider public, with the intent make available various itineraries in areas of great geological interest.

To place an order for a selected issue or article of the above mentioned journals, EAG members should send an email to info@socgeol.it, along with their membership number.
