2026 Outreach Lecturer: Marian Selorm Sapah, University of Ghana

Dr. Marian Selorm Sapah is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Earth Science, University of Ghana. Her research interests are in the areas of Cosmochemistry, Geochemistry, Geoscience Education and Environmental Geoscience.

She is an active member of several professional associations including, the Meteoritical Society (METSOC), the African Astronomical Society (AfAS), Geological Society of Africa (GSAf), Ghana Science Association (GSA), and the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OSWD).

She also does extension works as a founding and steering committee member of the Africa Initiative for Planetary and Space Science (AFIPS), a Board Member of Geochemical Society, the Public Affairs Officer of the Ghana Institute of Geoscientists (GhIG), a member of the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS)-Commission on Geoscience Education (COGE), and the National Outreach Coordinator (NOC) for the International Astronomy Union’s Office for Astronomy Outreach (IAU OAO).

Dr. Sapah enjoys mentoring, educational outreach and public speaking and has a special interest in creating interest in and promoting Planetary and Space Science as well as Geoscience in Ghana and Africa. She is also an advocate for the environment and sustainability as well as for women and girls in STEM.
