Nadia Malaspina
EAG Councillor
Nadia Malaspina is Associate Professor in Metamorphic Petrology at the University of Milano-Bicocca (Italy). She obtained her PhD in 2006 at the University of Genova (Italy) in collaboration with the ANU (Australia). For the following four years she worked as a postdoc in the Experimental Petrology Group of the University of Milano and then obtained a Researcher position at Milano-Bicocca (2010-2019). She studies the mechanisms of element transfer from the subducting plate to the mantle and the role of fluids (oxidation state and speciation of crustal components) in metasomatic processes responsible for hydration and carbonation of the mantle, adopting an integrated approach including field work, analytical and experimental techniques (LA ICP-MS, HP-HT experiments with piston cylinder, multianvil and vertical furnace at controlled fO2) and development of forward thermodynamic modelling.
