Karen Hudson-Edwards
EAG Councillor, co-Chair of the Goldschmidt2025 Organizing and Science Committees
Karen is Professor in Sustainable Mining at the Camborne School of Mines and Environment and Sustainability Institute at the University of Exeter, UK. She obtained her PhD at the University of Manchester in 1996, and worked as Lecturer to Professor at Birkbeck, University of London for 20 years before moving to the University of Exeter. She is an environmental geochemist and mineralogist working in the fields of mine waste characterisation and remediation, sustainable resource extraction, mining and circular economy and critical raw materials. She was a member of the Science Committee for Goldschmidt 2017 and 2021 and a Theme Chair for Goldschmidt 2019 and 2020. Currently she is editor of GeoHealth and specialty chief editor of Frontiers in Geochemistry: Mineral Geochemistry.
In her role within EAG, Karen co-chairs the Goldschmidt2025 Organizing and Science Committees with Martin Whitehouse.
