Changes to nominations for 2026 awards

Nominations for the 2026 Awards are open until 30 October. There have been some changes to the nomination process and guidelines, explained below.

The H.C. Urey Award recognizes scientists who have made outstanding contributions advancing geochemistry over a career. Significant changes were made to the nomination process; in particular, there are no more nomination letters.

The Science Innovation Award recognizes scientists who have recently made a particularly important and innovative breakthrough in geochemistry. There are new eligibility criteria: nominees must have received a recognized doctorate within 25 years of the first day of the year in which the award is given (career breaks are taken into account).

The F.G. Houtermans Award recognizes exceptional contributions to geochemistry by an early career scientist. There are new eligibility criteria: nominees must have received a recognized doctorate within 7 years of the first day of the year in which the award is given (career breaks are taken into account).

The Geochemistry Fellowship honors outstanding scientists who have made major contributions to the field of geochemistry. The award is based on scientific excellence as well as the broader impacts candidates have made in their careers to date.

Eclogite xenoliths record a constant ocean oxygen isotope composition for 3 billion years

In this work, we utilised the triple oxygen isotope (TOI) composition of Archean-age xenolithic eclogites, representative of Archean subducted altered oceanic crust (AOC) to constrain the triple oxygen isotope...
