Designed for first-time conference attendees, students & early career scientists, mentees will be matched one-and-one with an experienced scientist to help them navigate the conference. Application to serve as a mentor/mentee can be completed with your conference registration. The mentor-mentee match will be based on the area of expertise & the participation type (in-person or remote).

2026 Distinguished Lecture Tour

Liane G. Benning is a biogeochemist studying mineral-fluid-microbe interface processes. She is a Professor of Interface Geochemistry at the GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences in Potsdam, Germany. As part of the EAG Distinguished lecture program she will give a series of lectures on:

EAG-GS Outreach Program: upcoming dates

Marian Selorm Sapah is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Earth Science, University of Ghana. Her research interests are in the areas of Cosmochemistry, Geochemistry, Geoscience Education and Environmental Geoscience. As part of the EAG-GS Outreach program she will visit institutes in Botswana (19-23 April) and Namibia (23-29 April).

The Mineralogical Society’s 150th Anniversary Meeting: early registration deadline 20 March

In 2026 the Mineralogical Society of the UK and Ireland will celebrate its 150th anniversary, with a special conference at the University of Manchester. The meeting will involve all of the Society’s eight special interest groups and the Mineral Deposits Studies Group. Scientists from all countries are welcome, this will be a fully hybrid conference. Remote attendance by those from low- & middle-income countries will be free of charge.

Nominations for the MinSoc, Eileen Guppy Technician’s Award: deadline 18 April

This is a new award of the Mineralogical Society of the UK & Ireland named in honour of Dr Eileen Mary Guppy (1903–1980), a geologist, petrologist & analytical chemist.

The advanced practical and technical knowledge of technicians and experimental officers is an asset to every university and research institute. To celebrate and create recognition of their contributions we are delighted to introduce the first award that specifically focusses on the contributions of technicians.
