Call for Bloggers
Whether you are a first-time attendee or a more experienced conference-goer, if you are interested in sharing some of your experiences at Goldschmidt on theEAG Blog, we'd love to have you on board. A free ticket for the Early Career Mixer will be offered to each of our bloggers.
The EAG H.C. Urey Award is bestowed for outstanding contributions advancing geochemistry over a career. With the goal of increasing the number of nominations and the diversity of nominees, the EAG Council has decided to establish a new nomination process for 2026, as well as introduce self-nominations.
Self-nomination deadline: 30 June Nomination deadline: 30 October
EAG Early Career Science Ambassador Program Next deadline: 1 June
This program provides funding to Early Career Scientists based in Europe who wish to attend conferences outside Europe, and to Early Career Scientists in any country who plan to attend a fully virtual or hybrid conference remotely. Supported scientists attending a conference in person will have 50% of their expenses covered by EAG, up to 1500 Euros.

Labile iron associated trace metals and REEs in estuarine surface sediments
Estuarine surface sediments experience frequent redox oscillations due to dynamic depositional environments, potentially altering key element cycles at the sediment-water interface. To examine the associations of...
Europium traces the impact of high temperature hydrothermal systems on the early oceans
Hydrothermal systems have been invoked as a major driver for the evolution of life, but the impact of hydrothermal fluids on Earth’s ancient oceans and their habitats remains ambiguous. Europium (Eu) enrichments...
Textural and chemical inheritance during a pseudomorphic double mineral transformation
Pseudomorphism, a prominent feature of many fluid-driven mineral transformations, happens when a secondary phase inherits the morphology of the primary one due to a tight coupling between primary phases dissolution...
Formation of abnormally high density H2S fluid in sedimentary basins
Mississippi Valley-type (MVT) deposits serve as important sources of lead-zinc metals, requiring abundant reduced sulfur for their formation. High density H2S fluids greatly influence the efficiency and scale of...
How Earth got its water: Meteorite reveals surprising new clues
[Earth.com] For decades, scientists have tried to answer a simple but fundamental question – where did Earth’s water come from? Without hydrogen, the main ingredient in water, our planet wouldn’t have been able to support life...
Earth's Rotation Is Slowing Down, And It Could Explain Why We Have Oxygen
[ScienceAlert] Ever since its formation around 4.5 billion years ago, Earth's rotation has been gradually slowing down, and its days have gotten progressively longer as a result. While Earth's slowdown is not noticeable on human timescales, it's enough...
Oyster fossils shatter myth of weak seasonality in greenhouse climate
[Phys.org] An international research team studying fossilized oyster shells has revealed substantial annual temperature variation in sea water during the Early Cretaceous. The finding overturns the assumption that Earth's greenhouse periods...
Ancient Mars may have had a carbon cycle − a new study suggests the red planet may have once been warmer, wetter and more favorable for life
[The Conversation] Mars, one of our closest planetary neighbors, has fascinated people for hundreds of years, partly because it is so similar to Earth. It is about the same size, contains similar rocks and minerals, and is not too much...
Treating wastewater with alkaline minerals can improve CO₂ removal and storage
[Phys.org] Carbon dioxide removal (CDR) strategies use a wide range of techniques to capture CO2 from the air and store it durably, offering a frontier solution for counteracting the increasing levels of the greenhouse gas in our environment...
