EAG Awards: send your nominations before 15 November

Your nomination is crucial to ensure recognition of deserving scientists. The EAG Awards allow recognition of scientists at different stages of their career:

  • Houtermans Award for scientists under 35 or within 6 years of their PhD
  • Science Innovation Award (named after Nicholas Shackleton for his work in paleoclimatology) for scientists between 35 and 55
  • Urey Award, recognizing scientific excellence over a career

Please send your nomination before 15 November.

EAG Eminent Speakers at EGU 2013: send your nominations

EAG Eminent Speakers at EGU 2013: send your nominations

Each year at the EGU meeting, the EAG presents the Eminent Speaker award to one or two prominent mid-carrier scientists. Each Eminent speaker will receive a personal check of € 500 and will be given the opportunity to present a keynote lecture in the session to which they have submitted an abstract. Nominations for the EAG Eminent Speaker Awards can be made by EGU session conveners and by fellow scientists alike across all areas of geochemistry covered by the EAG. Only requirements are 1) scientific excellence, and 2) that the nominated scientist attends the EGU meeting. Nominations are no more than one page describing the candidate’s contribution(s) to geochemistry and should be sent to office@eag.eu.com before 1 December.

The EAG is excited to announce its next sponsored short course Gemmology and the Geology of Gems Deposits to take place at the University of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 3-5 December. This short course will be presented by Gaston Giuliani, Benjamin Rondeau and Dereje Ayalew. As the EAG aims to reach out to scientists located in under-represented regions of the world, other similar initiatives will be organized in the future.
